International Faculty

Dr Taha Chaiechi, is an Honorary Visiting Professor at DES Pune University. She is an accomplished academic leader and researcher with extensive experience in research, teaching, and administration. She currently holds the position of Head of Economics and Marketing Disciplines in the College of Business, Law and Governance at James Cook University and also serves as Australia Director for the Centre for International Trade and Business in Asia (CITBA).

Since joining James Cook University in July 2009, Dr. Chaiechi has showcased her commitment through impactful leadership roles. With over six years as Head of Discipline and various positions in the College of Business, Law, and Governance, she has been a catalyst for positive change. Her roles have included Acting Dean, Acting Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching, and Expert Member at the university's Academic Board. Currently, she chairs the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Action (IDEA) Committee and the Sustainability Committee within the college where she is also the Research Integrity Advisor.

Beyond her university role, she has served as a detailed assessor for the National Intelligence and Security Discovery Research Grants (NISDRG) program, Future Fellowship Programs, and the National Competitive Grants Program (NCGP) for the Australian Research Council (ARC).She is the Founding Editor/Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Resilient Economies (OA) and Associate Editor-in-Chief of the Bulletin of Applied Economics . Taha is an expert in systematically modeling dynamic relationships among economic, environmental, and social variables. She possesses extensive knowledge in quantifying and economically valuing environmental assets and services. Taha's research is holistic, focusing on climate change, natural disasters, and their impacts on various sectors like health, tourism, and the environment. Since 2011, she has contributed to research projects and consultancies valued at over $1.2 million.



Prof. Sushil Sharma is an International Faculty for Teaching & Research at DES Pune University. He is an Associate Provost & Graduate Dean, and a tenured Management Information Systems (MIS) professor at Texas A&M University, Texarkana. Prof. Sharma has the unique distinction of earning two doctoral degrees and has over 25 years of administrative leadership experience in higher education. Prof. Sharma is responsible for overseeing and leading the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP), the Office of Graduate Studies (OGS), the Office of International Studies (ISO), the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research (OIER), Extended Education and Community Development (EECD), Honors Program, Office of the Registrar, and the Office of Technology. He is also Chief Research Officer and Research Compliance Officer at A&M Texarkana.

Prof. Sharma has a uniquely international academic and professional background, having taught as full-time or visiting faculty in premier institutions of international acclaim and repute at IIM (India), University of Waterloo, Canada (known as the MIT of Canada), Turku School of Economics and Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. Dr. Sharma has directed executive development programs and consulted with companies/organizations in the USA and India.

He has co-authored/edited/co-edited 16 books and published over 100 refereed research papers in the most reputed national and international Management and MIS journals. In addition, he has published over 50 refereed chapters in various books and has presented and published over 175 papers at various national and international conferences. He has authored two cases, which are available through Harvard Business Publishing. Prof. Sharma has served as the editor-in-chief/co-editor-in-chief of the International Journal of E-Adoption. He has been a guest editor, associate editor, reviewer, and member of the editorial boards for several national and international journals in MIS.


Dr.Bhumika Gupta is an Associate Professor in Human Resource Management and Program Director of the IMT-BS Master of Science in International Management,France. Her Ph.D in Human Resource Management is from the University of Pau, France and she has been a visiting researcher at Copenhagen Business School, Denmark and at Stanford University, USA. In her research, she compares motivation levels in management practice between traditional and virtual project teams and studies corporate culture and psychological contracts in the work place.

Her research on Human Resource Management, Organization Behaviour, Strategic Human Resource Management, and Corporate Social Responsibility has been widely published in international journals and has been funded by French and international government agencies. She also serves as President of International Women’s Association in India. She has received several awards for her contribution to the society. We at DES Pune University are elated to have her onboard as a Visiting Faculty as well as a Mentor for our MBA Program.
