In January 2026, US president Donald trump gave a statement that US will acquire Greenland either by money or by force which had a wide impact on geopolitical activities.
On this statement of president trump many countries stood with Greenland and Denmark took a stand by Greenland’s side saying that Greenland is the integral part of the Denmark’s crown since centuries and it is not for sale, also warned US that Greenland’s sovereignty is non-negotiable.
Greenland provides with strategic location in arctic circle which will help US to control the new shipping routes.
Greenland has vast natural reserves like uranium, oil, gas. If US could acquire Greenland it would get all these reserves to counterbalance China and Russia.
Denmark has deployed hundreds of troops in Greenland. President of Denmark has clearly stated that the any attempt to acquire Greenland by US will be the end of NATO.
Denmark also has urged every possible help for Greenland to its European allies, if US takes any action.
India is facing high stock market volatility because of these tensions. NIFTY and SENSEX has dropped nearly 3.5% since these tensions, foreign investors pulled out nearly 29000 crores from Indian markets.
Because of this Indian rupee is facing the all-time low price against dollar. 1 US dollar is standing at 91 Indian rupees.
